Today we remember a great man who, as Uncle Seaba said, "was called to dine with his master." Grandpa Jennings went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 19th. This was John's grandpa, Teresa's Dad. Today was his funeral service and as we gathered for the visitation before hand and then the service itself, I couldn't help but be touched by all of the people who have been touched by this mans life.
I didn't know him very well myself as his mind had gone and he didn't recognize us anymore. It was hard to visit him like that so we simply didn't. John did a couple of times but I'm not sure if he ever even met Aaron. I saw him and Grandma Jennings several times as we were dating and throughout the first few years of our marriage. Once they could no longer live on their own, we stopped seeing them both. He would have been 86 on Christmas day this year.
I can't believe how large the family has gotten. He and Grandma Jennings have 5 children, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren!! That is a LOT of love to go around. I have only met most of them once or twice so it was nice to see everyone together. People wonder why we want to have a large family - we've always said we wanted 5 kids... this is one great reason!
The thing that stuck me the most today was the number of people who shared that Delbert Jennings was the man who led them to the Lord. He was very passionate and sure of his faith and was not afraid to share it with anyone. In fact, he was the one who led John to the Lord. John remembers it very vividly. I was so moved to get to hear testimony of the legacy this man left behind. The world lost a dear life, but he gained eternal life in a perfect body. I picture him up there laughing and partying with Jesus and all those who went before him. He would not want us to be sad but rejoice that he is finally home.

What a beautiful tribute. I didn't know he was who led John to the Lord. How amazing! I will always remember him sitting with his wife in church in their little matching sweaters holding hands. A true romance. Sounds like it was an awesome memorial. Condolences to the Farnsworth family.
