An amazing ride

I was so fortunate to get to be a part of one of the most amazing experiences ever last night. My best friend Amy went into labor yesterday afternoon and as planned, Job texted me to let me know that things were moving along. Nervous and excited I jumped in the car and headed for Olathe Medical Center where Amy was already progressed to a 4 and effaced to 50%. Determined to help her achieve her natural birth desires, I lugged my "Mary Poppins" bag up to her room. It was full of things I thought I might use but ended up only using the camera, video camera, and yes...the rolling pin! Soon after I arrived, we went for a walk and she filled me in on how things had gone that morning. A rough start, but no IV or cords or monitors at the moment so she was doing much better. Maiden Voyage

Aww...so much to blog about! Unfortunately I don't have all the pics with me that I'd like to include so we'll have to go back later and write about our visit to the hospital to see Great Grandpa Farnsworth, our trip to the Earth Day Celebration with Amy and Judo-chop and our general orneriness these days. For now, I can write about our new adventure with the bike trailer! As John and I are getting ready to get back on the band wagon and start training hard core for Bike Across Kansas, we've decided that it is time to break Aaron into the life of bicycling. Of course he gets the easy seat, chilaxing in the bike trailer with his pal Scout, a blanket, and a mum mum. Oh to be 10 months old! He was not too happy about it after a while but that has something to do with going on our first ride at 6:30 in the evening just before dinner time. Don't mess with a baby's eating schedule! He seemed fine at first and he certainly looked all snu...

A week of nap-less mornings

A week is stretching the truth a little...try 3 days. I've gone back and forth in my head on whether we should really skip the AM slumber yet but it's getting harder and harder for him to sleep in the afternoon, thus making a very irritable boy come 4 or 5pm. We have been very diligent in our morning nap routine - very rarely swaying from the 10:00/10:30ish nap time. I never make morning plans and we are ALWAYS home for morning naps as he would be a bear all day if we skipped them in the past. It seems he's ready to go down to one nap a day though and I would rather that one nap be in the afternoon than in the morning only hours after he woke up for the day. So how is it going? Well change is rough. And this change is no exception. I have to say I am starting to morn my lovely free time in the mornings but I do like the fact that we can go do things with the local Mom's Club or Parents As Teachers Group.
