Reflecting on 10 years

Last Friday I went to my 10 year High School Reunion!  I can't believe how time flies.  As I sit here and reflect on my life, I realize I'm actually right about where I thought I would be.  I may not have taken the path I thought I would travel, and it may not have all happened how I imagined, but here I am, living my dream.  I have an amazing husband who happens to be my high school sweetheart.

My flirty, fun, and incredibly handsome boyfriend John, took me to prom my senior year.  I remember dreaming and hoping that someday we would get married.

Ten years ago in October, we were engaged.  We were so young and people must have though we were crazy!  Many secretly thought we were pregnant because of our sudden drop out at K-State. At the time we thought we were so cool because we were real "grown ups" while our friends were still stuck in school.  We chose the harder way and went back to school later on in life when we had to juggle jobs too.

I knew someday I would want a degree even though K-State wasn't the place for us.  Several years later in 2007 I graduated from JCCC with an Associates in Accounting and later in 2009 I graduated from MNU with a Bachelor's in Business Management.  Truth be told, I didn't want to go to my 10 year reunion without a degree.  I figured everyone would have one except me if I didn't.  When it came down to it, no one cared anyway! Meanwhile, John got his Associates in Business and went on to get a Bachelor's in Nursing. I never really imagined I'd get a degree and then quit my job though!  That's exactly what happened because this little angel came along and I knew I couldn't leave him.

And almost 2 years later, another one...

We now have two beautiful little boys whom I utterly adore.  We have a home and John has a great job at the hospital.  But best of all, I get to stay home and raise my children.

How about other areas of my life?  Well, what about my best friend, Amy?  Best Friends Forever we said 10 years ago.

And we still are today.  In fact, we both have two boys and were a part of the birth for each other's second baby.  I love her like a sister and I'm glad our boys get to grow up together.

And what of my family?  Well mom and dad have been married over 30 years now!  Chelsee is married, and Katie is in college at K-State!  I just can't get over how time flies.

The reunion was great.  Awkward at times because we forget names but so great to see familiar faces.  Some things change, some things don't but as for me, I really think things just get better with time.  I am loving this stage of my life yet look forward to the future as well.  I don't really know where I'll be in 10 years from now.  Probably have more kids, more family trips, and many more memories.  It's been fun looking back at the last ten years but now I am excited to see what's in store for us in the next decade.
