Whew I guess I'm a little behind!
I had a perfect birthday this year. John took me out backpacking again. I'm really digging our little getaways. I love being outdoors with my hubby, carrying everything on our backs, finding our way through the woods, camping under the stars, snuggling in a tent... I could really (and am) get into this. I can't wait for the boys to get just a little older so we can take them with us. We might not be able to hike in and camp but we could sure secure a campsite and then go on a day hike with the boys. Hopefully we'll make it out this spring.
Where did we go this time? Indian Cave State Park, Nebraska. It's close to Mound City on your way to Omaha, about 2 and half hours from here. The park winds up and down a bluff along the Missouri river and it was absolutely beautiful. There's no better way to describe our trip than by pictures.
We're packed and ready to start our adventure. Two nights and two days worth of food and water makes for a heavy pack. We'll have to get better about traveling lighter for longer hikes.

1st night campsite. Just a fire pit and flat ground. It was pretty nice though. Chilly in the morning but refreshing at the same time.
Breakfast burritos in the morning. I was nervous about packing eggs without chilling them but it turned out great and we didn't get sick.
The park is named for this Indian Cave. It's been there for hundreds of years and has some old markings etched on the sandstone.
We got to witness the extent of the flooding from earlier this season. This is a view from on top of the bluff. We got some close ups of it as we left for home.

We had a great trip. John and I are already itching to go again! Hopefully we will soon. Right now the boys are up from nap which means my blogging time is up!
